Fine for nail holes, but you would want a pint or quart for large repairs.
For large repairs you want to use dry mud. Use something like durabond 90 for your base coat then finish it off with a wet mud like joint compound. Durabond dries hard as a rock and has built in bonding agent. This method can be used even on plaster walls.
