11.62 before tax now after clipping $3.49 coupon. I asked myself if it was worth ignoring the deal over the price going up a couple bucks, and for me, yes apparently it is.

I take it as a personal insult whenever amazon denies me a coupon, enough that I'd rather pay more from another vendor lol. If their algorithm wants my business then it better learn that I'm a special type of cheapskate

I know this is "only" a gigabit switch but this seems like a really good deal for a *managed* switch.

I just can't believe after all this time we are still using gigabit switches. It would be like the equivalency of still using component cables with tvs. Component cables were around 20 years ago just like consumer grade gigabit switches.

You make some good points, but most people do anything more than YouTube, TikTok, social media, email, and mobile games. None of these things really tax a gigabit connection. And these days, a lot of people strictly use Wi-Fi.

The SG105 is an unmanaged switch, which means you just plug in your RJ-45 cables and forget about it. There's nothing to configure—no port priorities, no VLANs, no settings at all.
The TL-SG205E that's on sale is a managed switch. That means you can configure it through a browser or app to set port priorities and create VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks), which is useful if you run virtual machines or want more control over network traffic.
For most people who just need extra Ethernet ports on a modem/router combo, the SG105 is more than enough and that's exactly why I went with the SG105.
