Went with a $29 2025 Moto G Power 64gb with 8gb ram. I don't want 4gb ram ever again.

Just pay the $40 and tax for the phone and the first month, no need to stay with the plan at all.
Make sure that you don't have autopay set up and it will just expire, you can do whatever you want with the phone, wait until the year and get it unlocked. should unlock on its own at the year.
