Was $149.99-$189.99 for same kit in Jan-October according to price history all a scam now.

I enjoy joking with AI about absurd things, as long as my RAM doesn't have to take out a mortgage.

You might get this again in 2028 but it's unclear right now.

RAM is coming down, Nvidia and other large corporations like Microsoft pulled funding for AI earlier today. Give it another couple months.

Keep your eye on Valve. If the steam machine gets delayed or canceled, we are doomed.

Thought this was a great deal until I looked at what the RAM and CPU have been selling for recently on eBay... BNIB after fees and shipping the seller net is approx $900 for both, so it wouldn't even make sense to flip this unless you like losing money.

For those building you're looking at a bunch of overpriced extra RAM and some factory ewaste AIO + mediocre case, yet no motherboard or anything good included. Not a slick deal.

RAM is not coming down buddy. All nand and dimm storage is sold out through 2026 and through mid 2027.

It will come down, but not this year in all likelihood as they fill those pending orders. doesn't matter if those companies decide they don't want it anymore, they already paid for it. and it's not just microsoft and openAI, it's every tech company that is trying to build out AI datacenters. so that includes xAI, google, amazon, msft, and all the companies around the world trying to do the same.

And ram is made by ~3 manufacturers for the global supply. it's not like google or amazon where they can forgo the purchase of nvidia hardware by designing their own chips and using tsmc to fab them. ram is ram is ram. as well as nand. it's a standard. gpu's aren't a standard.

If you need an upgrade, a new computer now, or think you will in the next 6 months this probably the best deal you will see. If you are like me and considered it because it's a good price in the current market but don't need it please pass.
I purchased 64gb of ddr5 6000MHz Crucial in September 2025 for $150. Spending this much just for the memory is propping up the same bubble that is causing the problem.
