I tried the first one, and it was one of the most boring games I ever tried.

After I tried starting one of the stories all they did was talk for straight 20 minutes. None of it mattered. Then I was unleashed to a castle filled with useless people, and I was given vague directions. All the voice acting went away after the first scene, which was extremely disappointing.

I quit it after wandering around aimlessly talking to unengaging characters and played Dragon Quest, a real RPG that starts you out swinging, and doesn't wake you up in the middle of a 20 minute lecture.

Square can't make good JRPGs anymore.
