Good price since 6 point box ends are to find for cheap. These aren't going to be as good as the old made in US line that were very heavy duty and handled abuse. They will still do what you need most of the time.

I have 6-point wrenches but rarely use them because in places like a tight engine bay they are such a pain, and sometimes impossible, to get onto a nut or bolt and to reposition due to their 60° swing. For nuts and bolts in good condition, a 30° swing 12-point wrench works just fine and is so much easier to use. But if a nut or bolt is previously damaged or really corroded, a 6-point may be necessary.

yup, looks like the metal is softer than the OG made in USA sets. I'll wait for the 11-pc to go on clearance at Lowes

These are the wrenches that beat Snap-on (broke my heart) in the recent Torque Test Channel shootout.

Super strong wrenches that beat Snappy two times (no other wrench has ever done that).

The Overdrive are quite hard at 51 Hrc, but hardness doesn't tell the whole story as the Snappys' were 54 Hrc, but not as strong.

The box end is for breaking the fastener free. Once free you use the open end

I wouldn't give that thread much credit. It incorrectly quotes TTC or fails to acknowledge the difference in quality and value found in Craftsmans Overdrive line. TTC ranked these wrenches at 3rd place below Milwaukee and Snap-On FD+ putting the Overdrive wrenches in 5th place overall. Vintage Craftsman ranks 19th. Budget or commodity Craftsman ranks 26th. In short, these are good wrenches for good value!

The open end is even more annoying in a tight space. Turn it a little pull the wrench out, rotate it, put it back on, turn it a little, pull the wrench out, etc.
Look, I get why you guys love your 6-points, I just find that 12-point wrenches are much easier to use in close quarters situations and only get out the 6-points if there is a realistic risk that the 12-point won't be able to grab a damaged or rusted fastener.

I used to replace engines for a living. I've turned plenty of wrenches and know that most box end wrenches are 12-point for a reason.

Obviously, these wrenches are kinda specialized for removing frozen or stripped fasteners.

With the teeth in the open end, the extended length and the 6-sided boxed end; these things are ready for the tough jobs.

These are not the old lifetime warranty craftsman's they used to make. Quality is really poor now. You'll be much happier with a similarly priced set at harbor freight.

If anyone else is newer to turning wrenches (no shame in that, we all started in the same place), this Torque Test Channel video shows how much more grip a 6 sided has over a Spline Drive, over a 12-sided, over the open end on damaged hardware.

The Spline Drive wrench did way better than I would have expected....

Yes, these have a lifetime warranty. Exchange at any ACE, Lowes, Farm & Fleet, ACME, Granger or directly from Craftsman.

They beat Snap-On AND the Harbor Freight ICON line of wrenches in the Torque Test Channel shootout. Not sure how much better the quality could be than that.
