As the owner of an animal I purchased for only $280 and had for 10 years ... This is not a deal.
Dyson is middle to just above middle of the pack performing vacuum. Beautifully designed yes, but over hyped performance because of its looks and rep.
Durability has also been an issue over the years. I've purchased new heads because the air turbine broke and delt with brushes that don't spin properly even when new. I've dealt with performance depression of the bagless design and having to disassemble and clean it.
In the vacuum world $$$ doesn't mean good. Do some research, there are budget model vacuums that function as well as high end models. It's all about real world test/ratings.
Don't get sucked into the hype 😁

I wholeheartedly disagree. I've had an animal Dyson since approx. 2006 and one of the best purchases I've ever made. Still going strong in 2026! Mine is not this model and I don't know if this is a good price comparatively. The only thing I've had to do is buy washable replacement filters. I bought an animal Dyson from Costco several years ago so when mine dies and I think I paid approx. $225 for it, but I haven't had to use it.

I agree to an extent. I think it was overhyped as well and I stopped using mine after about 5 years. It didn't pick up nearly as well as initially and yes, I did clean the filters and followed all directions etc. I moved to Shark and never looked back.
