But you're right about the color. You can get the standard colors for low $30 range any day of the week, and in mid $20 range if you wait for a sale.

and that reason is knowing where sound came from. if you are sitting there shooting, or doing pretty much any other activity, and someone is behind you and starts talking to you, you dont even know what shoulder to look over. because you have no idea where they are. sometimes that is fine, and if the muffs are cheap enough its a fine sacrifice, but at $40, you can spend not much more and know where every sound is coming from. not to mention, that not much more will also get you way better audio quality, and you will get way less white noise, which can be really taxing if you are wearing them for a long time.
