Community Reviews
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and other full synthetic jugs can net a strong effective price, especially when the $30 prepaid card is paired with Walmart or AutoZone pricing. The oil is described as a solid choice for high mileage and specialty applications, and the rebate has paid out cleanly for some claims. The main catch is that the offer is store only, with online pickup, Instacart, and some receipt formats causing trouble. Rebate approvals also seem inconsistent, so receipt details and status checks matter.
Common Questions (5)
It can be approved quickly, sometimes within 2-4 days, but payout may still take about 2-3 weeks. Some claims later changed from approved to declined, so checking status regularly and following up if payment stalls is important.
At common Walmart pricing around $26.50-$29.44 per 5-quart jug, two jugs can net out to about $24-$30 after the $30 card, or roughly $11.50-$12 per jug when bought at the lower price. One example worked out to $23 for 2x 5-quart jugs.
Use the TC number on the Walmart receipt, which is the transaction code near the top of the receipt. The rebate form asks for an invoice number, and entering the TC has led to approvals, though some claims still needed a clearer receipt upload or resubmission.
It works for in-store purchases only at participating locations; online orders and in-store pickup can be rejected for this promo. Several shoppers had to cancel online orders and repurchase at the store to qualify.
A B&M Walmart receipt is the safest choice; Instacart receipts may be treated like Walmart.com and rejected. In-store Walmart purchases on the participating-location list have been accepted, while online pickup orders were advised against.

Same. I've gotten Pennzoil rebates for many years before. The last round... about 2-3 years ago, too, was 'Approved' but then never got it. I called and was told to wait a few more weeks... still never got it. Others were in the same boat.
I let it slide and buy elsewhere now.
Edit: would have done Walmart In store pickup.... They used to not care on retailers and then they started to care and clamped down like "Must show proof of delivery with Amazon".
This. Have seen 3 different prices at Walmart --- Shelf price, App price, and google search and then Walmart.com link to stocked and shipped by Walmart price.

Not going to rush it this year …
So, stock up if you want.
And, RTFM: OEMs put OCI/ODI recommendations in there to protect their behinds and have performed industry-standard tests to back up their claims/recommendations. Yes, once it's out of warranty period you'll be SOL, but 9/10 if your engine fails, it's not the oil.
But, hey, oil is cheap. Change it more frequently if you want. Like most things in life, it's about peace of mind and feelings versus facts.
