they arent getting money back, theyre redeemable on instacart, just not for Costco.

Instacart keeps getting greedier every year and I think this will be the end of it for me:
First they stopped letting Costco selling the 20% GC like suddenly.
Then they sent an email that they are lowering their discount for Costco for instacart plus members to 50% less! ( Means 50% less discount on the markup or in other words raise their markup 50% more)
Now paying IC+ is $80/year through Costco and then gift cards became so hard to buy for even 10% off with hard limits on how many, and now this ?
I did a quick comparison as an IC+ member with same items on costco.sameday and on the IC app, the difference? $10 extra fees on the IC app which negates this deal!
I'm someone with health issues and no car.who was trying to order Costco groceries without shelling 20% markup plus tips and they want to squeeze every cent from you

You can always use it on Instacart. lol. It's an Instacart gift card.
It just can't be used on Costco Sameday any more as of two days ago. They removed that.

Careful with Instacart. They have crazy markups, on items, in many states and stores. You not saving anything in those cases.

Thanks for the heads up regarding instacart gift cards no longer being accepted on sameday costco. Bummer for me since the instacart markup is much higher for me in the Los Angeles, California area. Sameday Costco markup is 10% while the instacart costco markup is more than 24%. For example, the rotisserie chicken is $4.99 in store, $5.49 on sameday, and $6.21 on instacart.

Weird ..I always used Instacart and NOT Costco Sameday because the prices were cheaper on Instacart.. I live in NY

PS Just checked again and I can confirm that Instacart has cheaper prices for me than SameDay

I just test it today and it based on region - try input a California address you will see the mark up jump up to 24%

The primary idea of the service is convenience, not savings. That said, there're ways to pay less than store prices by stacking deals / offers and gift cards purchased at a good discount. I usually aim for 20% off now that the Costco no longer sells the cards.

I just called Instacartto find out if this is true. It is not true according to them. But you need to order starting with the Instacart site, not hte Costco site. If you start on the Costco site you will not be able to use Instacart. So they said start on Instacart and you just need the free membership to do that, and click on Costco. Most of the prices will be the same as if you went to the Costco site first. And you can put in your Instacart card codes to pay.
