I don't have this particular model but I do have the Oxo branded conical burr grinder. They work great with easy to use and the grinding from coarse to fine settings are very consistent.

Not to mention the stainless steel grind container deflects much of the static from the grind.

My only complaint is that over time, and I mean after years of using it, very fine coffee grinds will sift through cracks all the way to the bottom, and slowly builds up that it'll eventually start to make a little mess in your counter. Not a huge problem though it just becomes tolerated annoyance.

Maybe time to get this new one with the weighing scale. 😁

Is this Oxo grinder worth $90 more than this $50 machine?

"Worth it" is a very subjective thing...
It's definitely technically superior, and if you're into good coffee then yes it's worth it.
But if you're just doing French Press or something coarse ground the $50 will probably be fine, though with maybe a bit more dust from uneven grinding.

I have the cheaper ~$90 OXO grinder too. After using various burr grinders over the last 15 years, they all do what you describe over time without proper cleaning.

This one seems to have significant static issues, being cited in the reviews going back 10 years. Why would they keep producing a subpar expensive grinder when that problem is easily fixable, and was never an issue on their cheaper grinder because they used a stainless steel catch cup? It seems like the most anti-OXO product decision you could make.

This one probably isn't, unless you need the features and can live with the flaws. The ~$90 OXO is definitely worth $40 more. I had that Mr Coffee grinder since it was $19.99 at Walmart in 2015 when I was divorced, broke, and it and a cheap $6 IKEA french press were all I could afford for decent coffee. It gave out after 5 years. I bought another in 2020. It gave out in 18 months. I had a few different Chinese Amazon brands, which were not worth it. The $90 OXO has been going strong completely without issue for almost 3 years. It is supremely easy to clean, which alone is worth the money. That Mr Coffee is much, much harder to clean, and will give out because of it.

thinking about going with this:
Amazon.com: SHARDOR Professional 64mm Burr Coffee Grinder with 100 Grind Settings and All-Metal Chamber, Coffee Bean Grinder with Adjustable Electronic Timer and LED Display, Anti-Static,Black : Home & Kitchen

vs
Baratza Encore ESP.
Reviews say go with Encore ESP unless you plan to upgrade the burrs on the shardor down the road...decisions decisions...
I think for 20 - 30 dollars more and if you are doing espresso, might be worth looking at the two above over this one.
For regular coffee with no other bells and whistles, prob could go down a notch and not spent 140?
This product is at an odd price point relative to practical need vs cost.
