Yes. I did live chat with Costco and they confirmed you may return even if it's been opened/used.

I have a newer bottle and it projects and lasts just fine. Although I never had it pre 2020 to compare. Still a strong skin scent 24 hours later.

Note this is not the same formula from 10-15 years ago that made this scent famous.

Many of the compounds got voluntarily banned by fragrance industry due issues with sensitivity.

You'll see decants of the original aventus on ebay for $$$

As someone who's owned Aventus and various dupes, just get CDNIM LE. It's 90% the same, scratches the itch, and gives you way better performance (a bit too much).
