I have this scanner. It works well for creating textured 3d models, but does not have the precision for creating 3D printable models or for reverse engineering.

Maybe if you're just looking to make organic shapes. I tried to make some basic car parts and it was insufficient. Ended up with a Revopoint MetroX.

Before you go spending money on this try some of the 3D photogrammetry/scan apps for your cell phone. Some work better than this thing, especially if you have one of the iPhones with a depth sensor. I used "Scaniverse", IIRC, about 3 months back using a friend's iPhone Max and it worked well beyond my expectations. I dusted the all-black part with some talcum powder before scanning.

Wait - so you're saying scanning and making prints of items isn't useful for this? That's its primary purpose, and the whole reason I'd buy one.

What about desktop figures? I was thinking of using it to scan old Disney figurines and reprint them.

I have one of these and was able to use the scanned model to reverse design what i needed. It is not as accurate as the more expensive scanners but its pretty good for the price. This has a pretty limited size of the object you want to scan, not too small it will not pick it up, and too large it gets lost when scanning. I would say a person is as big as you want to scan, and a mug is about as small. There are tricks to get better results but its pretty tricky. Dont get the wifi bridge, i found connecting to a computer to be way faster and more accurate. I have the Pro and i would have just gotten the regular instead for cheaper.
