These batteries are terrible. I find any of the rechargeable batteries are manufactured for a fraction of the life of the normal batteries in functionality and such a waste of money. These companies should be held accountable for intentionally producing poor quality to maintain their profit margins, such intentional laziness and exploitation is reprehensible. And I did a great deal of research on which batteries to invest in like this, only to find that by virtue of being rechargeable they are all poorly produced. Repulsive companies
What's terrible about these eneloop batteries specifically?

Do you mean eneloop in particular or are you just generally complaining about nimh batteries? Because eneloop is a very well regarded manufacturer of nimh batteries. That said, there are definietly some other companies that make very poor quality nimh rechargeables.

Nice babbling rant. You just may have a wasted life of community organization in your future it sounds like. 👌

eneloop is my go to brand, that said anymore I only use rechargeables in devices that have their own recharging cradle like flashlights, headphones and old school land line cordless phones. I've found the lower voltage provided by these cells just doesn't cut it in remotes, indoor/outdoor thermometers, and cameras; one must constantly be tending/recharging, and syncing these devices to make them work and I have put alkalines back in them so they run a year or more without the hassle.

Have read a fair number of complaints on SD about rechargeable Amazon Basics. That has scared me away.

This is a good price at less than $2 per battery. Compare it to Alkaline bundles at the retail stores and you come out ahead after recharging them 2 or 3 times. It's a no brainer if you already have a charger.

I've used other brands, specifically EBL and Amazon Basics. They were much cheaper... And they're also junk. I will only buy eneloop from now on. Those cheaper brands don't hold a charge and lose capacity very quickly. I have a fancy charger and was constantly refreshing them to get them back to a "full" charge, only to find them nearly dead when it came time to use them. My eneloops were always reliable and I found myself being stingy with their use because I didn't want to put them in places I'd never see them again like kids toys. I finally just gave in and invested in a bunch of these... It was a good choice. Now I just grab these and use them since I have so many.

These are good, EBL and Amazon basics are junk. Buy these. Also buy a good charger.

The $1.89/battery price has been available for months. Sometimes it dips to $1.87/battery and once, a few weeks ago, I saw it for about $1.83 or $1.84 per battery.
