FWIW, I received this laptop a few weeks ago from Acer. Purchased from the Ultra 5 32GB deal, the specs didn't jive since the Ultra 5 doesn't do 32GB of ram. Acer via PM provided me a model number for a Ultra 9 but received this A14-52MT-701K (Ultra 7 258V), I still consider it a win but would have liked the U9 better Wink
I did piss and moan a little after purchase (out of principle mainly), Acer ended up refunding $40 being they did tell me the wrong thing, they clearly didn't want to do a return either. First few messages from them were AI nonsense or just random copy / pastes.

Testing against my old Lenovo Flex 5 8845HS with 16GB of ram; This Acer is about twice as fast in a few games (for example Far Cry 5 gets double the FPS) and Switch emulation is much stronger. Now never drops below 60 FPS where the 8845HS stayed there....most of the time.

Screen is pretty lackluster in terms of color against my old non-OLED Flex 5 (comparable to my work Dell Latitude 5440). Plenty bright, speakers MUCH LOUDER. Lenovo was super quiet. No SD or micro SD card slot though. Acer also has a lot of annoying stuff installed like AdobeOP which keeps bothering me buy something but I cannot figure out how to remove it (without simply removing the exe that is starting). msconfig nor start up (in task manager) appear to be pointing to it and no Adobe items are in Add / Remove Programs.

Laptop arrived brand new appearing, plain box, and charger, nothing more.

I had this laptop. Specs aside, it felt very cheap. Very plasticy build quality and the keyboard feel wasn't great if you care about those things.

The 45% NTSC aside, the 32 GB LPDDR5X-8533 is definitely tempting.

Acer and ebay. Couldn't get much worse. The pc will be a POS, acer won't help, neither will ebay. Good luck with that.
And that is why we have PAYPAL

That laptop is showing in stock for me right now
On mobile in my eBay app it says out of stock across the top while the buttons on the listing say add to cart or buy it now - but you can't do either of those because it will say out of stock.

No mention in the listing of it having a backlit keyboard but I google the MPN number from the listing against the Acer site and it does have it. At $300 I would have bitten just to try it.

Ordered. My credit card has been charged. But no note from Acer about order received, or when it will ship.

Just yesterday I picked up the Ultra 5 226V, 16GB ram version of this from Costco for $500. Comparison sites seem to suggest this one does not perform much differently, but now I've got a little buyer's remorse. What do y'all think? New Ultra 5, 16GB vs Refurb Ultra 7, 32 GB.
you overpaid by a ton. the 16gb 226v is worth $300-350. 32gb 256v is $450.

I could not live with a display that poor. Kudos to those who can.
the acer is is very acceptable for the price($300-400), B-. compared against m1 max being A+. its more VA like panel with deep blacks and uniform lightbleed. much better than acer go swift IPS.
acer sells the QHD OLED for $300-800 with older CPU and half the battery life. asus OLED FHD has sharpness issues, but the QHD OLED is better.

im guessing some people got the acer C- IPS panel with two low bid LCD vendor. I saw the acer aspire at Costco, its god awful dirty.
thats why half the buyers are ok with acer aspire LCD

Where are you finding those prices on a 14" touch screen?

After tax it was $499, $40 less after the partial refund for the CPU mix up. It was from the below deal, second option. The "Intel Ultra 5 226V, 32GB", which couldn't have been correct since the ram was 32GB. It was either a U7 or U9 (assuming the RAM wasn't the part that was wrong)

https://slickdeals.net/f/19098601-acer-aspire-14-ai-cert-refurb-14-fhd-ips-touch-intel-ultra-5-226v-16gb-lpddr5-1tb-ssd-355-99

The laptop is fantastic. Only thing is the screen isn't great but honestly I'd rather a mid screen and a great machine vs a mid machine with a great screen. The lack of an SD slot is annoying too since I am always messing with retro handhelds, loading roms, etc, but I always have a hub with me so it isn't an end of the world type thing.
OOoo, I bit on the same deal and received the same machine. Should I seek a $40 refund?

I would if I were you. Just keep pressing them if they send you AI nonsense replies that do not make sense in context. They need to learn to properly describe their listings or deal with the pushback.

Have you researched this chip at all? Lunar Lake are 8 cores (4p + 4e), and while they are very efficient, they're actually not an upgrade in raw power over previous generations. But the built-in GPU is pretty strong on its own: I clocked one of these 258v laptops at 4,400 in Time Spy. That's close to RTX 3050 mobile performance.

Guess I'm going to be able to provide my own input on the screen in a week or so. Placed the order in the morning, cancelled it later in the day (or requested cancellation, I should say), and they didn't respond until the next morning - saying they could no longer cancel it because they just shipped it. Made me chuckle while being a little annoyed.
