Maybe it's been as low as $330 for those garage sale "refurbished/used/heavily beat up" ebay listings, but if one reads the description, these are brand new (w/ damaged box) --- complete with full manufacturer's warranty and Applecare eligible.

Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!

Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)

If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.

Looks like these are $346 on Walmart.com. Same seller.

Mine arrived and it's not looking 'Excellent'. It's showing a purchase date of January 10, 2025 so coverage is expired and under battery health it says 'Service Recommended'. It seems like it was turned on at some point - there's a sticker on the box that says it was inspected - and then the battery drained and sat discharged for 13 months or so.

Thanks for the update; particularly if it helps set people's expectations about what to expect from this.

What's your battery's Cycle Count? You can watch the short YouTube video below to find that info. Regarding the Walmart "Open Box" policy (which these were sold as), there should be zero signs of any usage, this should be a brand new macbook in an opened box. Warranty, and battery should be brand new.

So 50:50 so far if we get a new one or not. I will return if mine turns up like yours

It's actually pretty much fine - it was obviously handled and unwrapped and the charging cable was bunched up and crammed back in the box. The bottom case was also marked up from the charging cable rubbing against it but I think the marks are removable.

That makes sense. I suspect someone turned the laptop on and did the inspection, but forgot to turn it off, leaving the battery draining and dying out.

Well, it's $346, not $900. And yes, people actually used to buy computers for all that. Isn't that amazing?
you bought it for $346 back then?

What are we talking about? The deal, which is $346 for an MBA? Or my windows box? The windows box was a couple of thousand - dual xeon, 128gb ram, 5 drive bays, not sure about the video cards anymore.
