Maybe it's been as low as $330 for those garage sale "refurbished/used/heavily beat up" ebay listings, but if one reads the description, these are brand new (w/ damaged box) --- complete with full manufacturer's warranty and Applecare eligible.
Also, to the above poster, I didn't see any links to those places where it's "as low as" $330. That's ok, happens to all of us. The other week I sent an email saying "Please see attachment" and whoopsie, totally forgot the attachment!
Now, if you compared the relative value of an entry-level M1 Air to an entry-level M4 Air (which has gone on sale for ~$750-800 over the holiday season, msrp $1000)...I'd argue for the extra ~$400 (double the price), you're getting a machine with a far superior processor, marginally larger screen, and double the ram. Also, it's not going on 6 years old. (But I'm using a 16gb/1tb M1 Air right now, and it's held up splendidly under daily normal use.)
If you have a strict budget or want to get into the apple ecosystem on the cheap, it'd be hard to beat this for a low-risk entry point. It's a delightful, well-made ultrabook that's extremely inexpensive.
Mine arrived and it's not looking 'Excellent'. It's showing a purchase date of January 10, 2025 so coverage is expired and under battery health it says 'Service Recommended'. It seems like it was turned on at some point - there's a sticker on the box that says it was inspected - and then the battery drained and sat discharged for 13 months or so.
I've been going through he ll trying to get my thousands of photos off my iPhone (and into my NAS drive) every few months. Tried everything: connected to pc with usb, iTunes, iexplorer third-party software, etc.
(Hate these companies trying to force you to pay monthly for cloud. Google Photos is not any better. Once your photo is on android or iPhone, they want to make it impossible for you to get it to your pc hard drive. Look how easy it is to transfer from pc to pc. Copy and paste in win explorer.
It is horrible. The albums I created get jumbled and combined into a giant mess.
I even considered paying for iCloud but getting photos off iCloud is an even bigger nightmare, needing to request giant zip files that also lose album/folder structure.
If I buy a MacBook, will I be able to easily download the photos off my iPhone to the MacBook and then to my NAS? While preserving album structure?

Is this a troll? Windows is hated by everyone right now, and has caused a massive spike in Linux adoption. The VAST majority of people remotely competent in software/computing prefer Linux or Linux based like MacOS, which tells me all I need to know about your level of competency.
Is that why all IT professionals and serious companies use Windows and not MacBooks?

I've had great success using Photosync on my iPhone. I'm able to offload photos and videos from my phone directly to my NAS. I think I had to pay for the premium version to remove the resolution limit.
I just received mine. It says Grade A on the box. The box had a couple dents in the corner, but nothing major. The laptop itself looks completely mint. Not a scratch or scuff on it. It says it's had 8 battery cycles. It says the battery health is 'Normal' and capacity is 100%.
I checked the warranty status and it said I needed to update the purchase date. I just called Apple and went through that process. Took 5 minutes.
All in all, nothing to complain about. Anyone have a good recommendation for a hard case for this thing?

What number did you call at Apple to update the purchase date? Mine does not say to update it, but I would like to to gain the few extra months in the warranty length.

Sorry, I should have said they called me. After I entered the MacBook S/N on the warranty status page and it told me the purchase date needed to be updated, I uploaded my receipt and it had me provide my phone # so someone could call me directly.
Just got mine. Some scuffs on bottom from charger cable rubbing like others had. Some minor scratches/chips on front lip that i don't love. cycle count 2 on battery. However warranty showing as expired. Not sure what to do I would like to keep it as i think its a great deal and no guarantee i get a better one if I re-order

I tried to update the purchase date on sunday (see page 13), but never got the call back from Apple.
So today I called them, send them screenshots where it says I need to "update the purchase date" (screen w/ your S/N) and after talking to them on the phone & them seeing my screen shots of purchase & delivery etc. they updated my Warranty 1 year from February. 7 2026. Woot
My advice to you is do this check & update BEFORE you setup your laptop.
If you look at my comments on page 13, when I said that when I set it up it said it had Warranty expiration of Mid October, 2026. That now is extended.
I didn't say anything about "open box" I just said I purchased it and got it. The Walmart receipt thing does say it, but I didn't go there... Just said I want to update the purchase date to when I got it. BE Nice. Maybe it will work out for you.
Got mine yesterday. Looks like mint condition with 2 power cycles. No noticeable issues besides the warranty being expired. I guess I need to call, the website to update the purchase date did not work as expected.
Ordered one "used like new" condition, figured worst is just returned it back.
Got it in Apple original box, like new, battery count 1, and warranty until July 2026, not bad 😀

I ordered one for my father and it arrived unable to hold charge. It only has 7 battery cycles, but it says the battery requires service and it stays at one percent when plugged in. Its warranty also ended on December 27, 2025. Bad luck all around. He was really looking forward to it. Very disappointing.
