Good deal for the 12v screwdriver. It was on sale last February as well.

I'm curious why choose this over a drill driver. Thoughts?

It's small and light, very good for cabinets and electrical vs a drill driver which is a bit overkill for those projects. Sure you can use a drill driver for those things, but I honestly prefer this for most projects.

Seems like a great deal, but it shows $149 for me.
edit: NM, it's showing $99 after choosing pickup.

You have to consider the weight distribution when you're using tools like this all day. The drill driver you mentioned is usually top-heavy and not as convenient when switching bits.

I hear less enthusiastic reviews on these - is there something concerning about the DW 12V line?

12v Dewalt in in 2026.... thumbs-up vote, when their 20v kits go on sale for the same price or nearly the same price all the time. okay......

I spent the time to read reviews. The low reviews are that it won't hold onto 1inch bits. One person who works with it said it lasted only 9mo vs his Milwaukee. Lowes doesn't have that but I found on home depot for $99 similar to this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../100615066 I went and looked I have a more heavy duty model 3404-12. It seems strong. I much prefer having a chuck to hold drill bits along with hex if you can have two. I found a deal thats live at HD I strongly suggest you consider if your in this market. I have mostly Dewalt so I can't say which but this is a strong deal with two tools and batteries for $99 and $70off vs $50 here. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../203111686
On more thought yeah I'm more for the Milwaukee here. Oops out of stock already. IDK if they give you the deal price if you put in your email and buy it later.

They have been fine for me. I don't use them daily on the job so those people might offer that perspective. On the reviews for this tool I didn't see any such patter either.

Ask yourself..... Why do they call this a screwdriver, and not an impact driver???

If you screw in small screws every day, it's convenient.

man, I'm still using my 12V "drill" and the 12V impact driver that came with it for over a decade now, I wonder how much has changed AND if the batteries are the same.

I think it doesn't have the hammer function.
This is strictly for small/medium screws and electrical boxes, I believe.
Carpenter but I guess that don't matter much for this tool. I was thinking of picking one up for furniture making but I think the 5 in 1 would serve me better.

I got this unit a couple of years ago. I have used it for many light jobs and I pushed it a couple of times to do more than it should (3 inch screws into studs). It has held up fine and I appreciate the ability to adjust the sensitivity, so I do not strip threads when assembling items.
