Is this the XR model?

I was hoping to pickup a XR drill, but get lost with all the different models. My understanding is XR is the line I should get, but also unclear on the 12V vs 20V

That's Dewalt for ya -- you need a CrackerJack secret decoder ring to figure out their model lineups. But not a regular CrackerJack, but a MAX 20-60v XR PowerStack Atomic Max CrackerJack (not PowerPack though....comon, are you silly for even considering a PACK versus a STACK when it comes to the JACK?) 🤣

Yea, it gets so confusing, I know the Atomic line is the entry level, but it's difficult to understand the higher end. I believe the 20V Max XR is the top end, but then more difficult as you go down...e.g. which is better 12V XR vs 20V MAX?

I kinda need a regular drill vs an impact...so should I hold out for a 20V MAX XR?

20V MAX vs 12V EXTREME refers to the battery. For a particular tool, there is not much (or none) of variations in 12V line but the 20V line has many.
If a drill/impact driver ONLY says 20V MAX it is likely the lowest in the line (brushed, prob worse than 12V), next up would be if it only adds the word brushless (above 12V), then Atomic, then XR.
There are sometimes more variations in drills/impacts that can include eagles generations, but I'd say what I wrote is a good rule of thumb...

i just realized you can't use a 20v battery on the 12v model (it's all clicking now!)...which means I should pass as I have a bunch of the 20v batteries from my existing setup

Weird as the 12v Drill and the 12v impact are also $79 and free delivery but the 12v screwdriver is showing $99 free shipping. Crazy Lowe's! I thinking Dewalt is clearing out their 12v lineup entirely.
