Anyone buy this to primarily use as a tripod? Does it work well with a iphone in a thick case? Can the mount drop the phone under any circumstances? There's already a newer model. Seems like these go out of date quickly?

Would the auto tracking work while filming my son's wrestling matches and using it as a tripod? You know with to kids rolling around and a referee watching?

Every time I see a deal for one of these, I wonder how well it would track someone riding a horse to include periods of cantering (a bit of speed). I often record my wife and sometimes clients during riding events. I can do a decent job at staying steady but it's difficult especially when it's cold LOL. It would be cool for my wife to have something to even set up on her own and just have it record while she's practicing... Is this something that would work for that?

Had bought this previously, the clamp did not work well with my thinner case and i needed to take it off every time to use the gimbal.
You must have a super thick phone case. My IPhone 16 Pro Max is in a Speck case and I have no problems with my phone staying in it's case while using the clamps for the gimbal.Here is my case for reference: https://speckproducts.com/collect...6-pro-case.
