Now that Verizon doesn't unlock phones after 60 days this is compelling since that was basically the cheapest way to get a motorazer for $199 bucks. But now that you need 12 months concurrent it's really only worth it if you were planning on using visible or straight talk for 12 months anyways.

I've had terrible luck with Best Buy open box products. Even excellent condition has looked very, very used in some cases, so I'd be very wary of acceptable condition.
They have the same return. I've never had any issues I got a Lenovo duet and LG G8X surface pen and my Pixel for a case all open box from Best buy and none of them had any issues.

It's not open box. It's straight up used.
It's listed as open box so you're making the argument that Best buy is misidentifying these products but it's listed as open box not used. For what it's worth I've purchased four items open box from Best buy and all of them were functionally brand new. Clearly returns. My Lenovo duet had two battery cycles on it and no marks. My LG G8X the box was in really rough shape but it had 100% battery health and no marks.

And then I even got a Pixel for a fabric case and a surface pen from there open box and they were indistinguishable from brand new. I don't doubt other people have had serious issues I just we're all on a very limited sample size.

If you bought something that was open box and it turns out to just be used that's not right. But this is listed and it is open box.

My only concern is the $45 restocking fee it seems to be a little worrisome because what if you open the device and find that it doesn't meet their claims. I would like to thank the restocking fee would be waived if you open a device that says open box good and it turns out to be quite not good. Thankfully in the particular incidents where I would need to make this decision it's a pickup so I can take a peek at it.

I returned my (excellent), cuz couldn't detect the sim card, (I tried 2 different), no restocking fee. Phone was really in excellent condition, just didn't work with sim, also was locked in settings. Now damn, the deal is dead.

I don't think they charge a restocking fee on open box phones.

Received mine this week. Purchased excellent condition.
Came in generic box with generic cable. Had a huge chip mark on the front cover screen corner (looks like it was dropped).
I know BB open box is hit or miss but there is clear damage on there...how do you label that as "excellent" ffs.

Have had mine for about a week now. Nothing but good things about this phone. The price point was too good to pass on and the phone was delivered properly packaged and indeed in "excellent" condition along with a new 3rd party type+C cable in its packaging. This phone was for my pre&teen and he loves it. His friends are always bragging about their iPhones but it appears finally looking at a Motorola foldable is making his iPhone buddies think twice about Android devices. 😉
