if it matters to anyone they recently had a firmware update on the ultra's that made them much better in terms of sound quality during phone calls. they used to be impossible to use on the streets to talk to someone. that has been fixed.

That's a huge tip, thank you for letting us know! I've had these buds for a long time and they are ABSOLUTELY worthless while talking on the phone in any atmosphere with sound. People were constantly telling me the far away background traffic noise, noise that wasn't even loud to me nor could it be heard on the call by myself, was louder than my voice. I have a separate set of ear buds valued at $20 for calls because it was magnitudes better quality.

Sound quality: these buds sound great and have fantastic bass.

Functionality: they lose connection quite often and cause bluetooth software blips on android. I've used these buds across three android (samsung) phones, all have 10% chance of losing connection per every use. Disconnection requires the buds to be returned to the case and reconnected. I've also had to warranty these buds twice for random bricking. I also hate everything Samsung so YMMV on other phones.

Battery: The batter life is quite impressive. These buds don't ever get close to dying after 2-3 hours continued use. I've also used them for work for 8-10 hours of calls and music, they survive the day. I don't have to charge these buds often at 2-3 hours continued use per day. Once a month. That being said, when they give you a warning that they are at low battery, they die within 5 minutes. No matter the warning of level, mine typically die immediately and the warning is always upon pairing. So if you're a gym goer, you'll often find out you need to charge them when you open the case, put the ear buds in, they tell you low battery, and they die within 5 minutes of use. It's good to have a backup or battery pack in your bag.

Source: I use these ear buds 1-3 hours everyday, if not more, for several years. Probably since they released. I have one of the first released so YMMV.

FYI,
This is 1st gen. no wireless charging.
If your employer is included in their employee discount, the new gen2 is 224 on the Bose website.

These also have Apt-X Low Latency so if you get a dongle that supports that like the BTD 600 or 700, you can actually use them in games and they work great.

I an on the fence to buy this and was wondering how well they work in apple ecosystem.

I would like to pair these with my work macbook and my iphone. I want to be able to switch between them seemlessly without connectivity issues.

Any input from someone who has used it in apple products is appreciated.

Also wondering this. I think you'd have to download the Bose app to get full features on iPhone. I'm assuming you get basic connectivity on Mac but I'm not too sure. I'd do some research on YouTube.

I have mine paired with my iPhone and my Mac mini. I can listen to Spotify on my phone, pause it and press play on a YouTube video on my Mac and it switches over with no issue. Have to pause the currently playing device though, won't start the 2nd audio/video if I just click play. Wind noise is pretty prevalent on these. The ANC is really good. I like that I can set each bud to have its own shortcut. The tap to play/pause/skip and volume up/down adjustments are easy to use and work well.
Bought mine as Bose refurbs for $100 and they were worth every penny.
