I think there is a matter version of this plug that also qualifies for the 25% off that is only a few $ moreThese are all being sold down since they only have 2.4 ghz support. We've pretty much moved on to 5 and 6 ghz and many routers don't even expose the 2.4 ghz bands by default. For many with installed WiFi and 2.4-6ghz support these are still fine for several years.
Most IoT devoces are still on 2.4ghz so it's not going away
The prime card is Amazon's Chase Bank Visa card, which offers a minimum 5% discount on everything you buy from Amazon but more often 6 to 8% and in this case clearly higher discounts when using that card for purchase.
Does that mean they want to draw more than a power strip provides, or not enough or something else?
It just means you have to be careful to not have so much plugged into the power strip that the draw is more than 15amps, which could burn the switch up/cause fire.
These are great for Christmas and Halloween time when you have decorations that you need to control and put timers on. Also as others have mentioned I've used them to monitor power usage throughout the year.
