This compact wheel-style pizza cutter is praised for top-down leverage, safer storage with its blade cover, and quick disassembly that can make cleaning easier. It also works well beyond pizza, including quesadillas, dough, toddler snacks, and even focaccia. The main drawbacks are awkward control on firm crusts, a blade cover and latch that can feel fiddly or risky, and cleaning that can get annoying because food sticks under the wheel. Durability concerns also come up, with reports of flimsy plastic and parts breaking after a drop or a few months.

I owned this exact model years ago and only used it a couple of times before shelving it. The design just isn't great for me - your hand sits directly over the blade, which makes it harder to see what you're doing and keep a straight line vs a handled cutter.
As for cleaning, yes, it can be taken apart, but doing that every time gets old fast. The plastic housing also feels a bit flimsy, so I never loved the idea of pressing down hard with my hand right over the blade. That might just me though.
If compactness is your top priority and the quirks don't bother you, it's still a decent buy.

Seems gimmicky
it looks dangerous. if you didnt push directly middle, it could slip and turn and your hand could go in the blade. supposedly it's designed so there's no torque on the blade? but who cant handle the tiny torque from a regular handle version?

1.25 at a dollar store for a safe pizza cutter. That's what I use.

I'm probably using a different brand at same store. They change over time. Dollar stores have great kitchen aids at cheap prices - and some crap too.

Got some of these at an outlet store for a buck... Nice cutters but difficult to clean.
are they not dishwasher safe?

Exactly.

I don't eat pizza at home often enough to spend money on a dedicated pizza cutter that must be stored and cleaned -- when a have a pair of scissors or shears that do the job. Less clutter overall.

I would avoid this product if you like to make NY-style pizza or any pizza with a relatively firm crust. When you have to apply a lot of leverage to make the cut, its harder to control than a cutter with a typical handle. And for the same money you can get a decent traditional cutter.
I agree with this entirely. I have tried being a convert to the minimalist pizza cutter, but it's just worse than the competition. It's better than the $1-$5 flimsy-looking cutters from Walmart and the dollar store, but it is simply harder to use and doesn't perform nearly as well as a $8 competitor with a handle. And that includes basically every brand of grocery store frozen pizza, unless deliberately undercooked.
It DOES do better with things that should be doughy, though. Absolutely immaculate cuts through a loaf of focaccia.

I still have one of those generic Walmart ones that looks like it's going to fall to pieces just looking at it. Still working wonders. This looks like the type my wife would cut her hand of with...

Not even the Protective Blade Cover could protect me from this thing.

The shared opinion of myself and 3 other people: this is worse than garbage. Compared to a standard pizza cutter it's far easier to cut/hurt yourself, it's harder to clean and dealing with taking it apart is another chance to cut yourself, and it doesn't cut super well. Call it a skill issue if you want, but a pizza cutter shouldn't require lots of "kitchen knowledge" and all 4 of us got at least a small cut from this stupid thing.
