This Hisense 8,000 BTU smart inverter window AC stands out as a cheaper way to get an inverter unit, with the coupon dropping it well below the usual price for non inverter models. The inverter design is praised for quiet operation, easier installation than a Midea U, and app control that can turn it on remotely. The main concerns are mold buildup in the vents, a remote and app that feel weak, and mounting challenges on non flat siding. AliExpress shipping and returns also carry extra risk, so the deal looks strongest when the coupon and U.S. shipping line up.

  • window AC shoppers who are comparing inverter vs non-inverter pricing because it can be a strong value when you can stack a coupon (commenters said $155+ is usually what non-inverter units cost, so getting an inverter for that price felt like a good deal).

  • people buying from AliExpress who want a longer return window because one commenter said AliExpress handled returns with a 90-day return period (they contrasted it with 30-day Amazon returns).

  • buyers who already have experience with Hisense/Midea-style window inverters and want remote/app convenience because commenters said they used the app to turn the AC on remotely and liked the unit enough to buy a second.

  • renters or homeowners who need an easier install than their previous Midea because one commenter said the Hisense was easier to install than their Midea and also wasn't loud.

  • Costco shoppers who want an easy safety net for a bad unit because a commenter said Costco offered options like sending a needed part or returning the unit if something was wrong.

  • buyers who are worried about delivery fraud because commenters described scam-like fulfillment problems (wrong tracking/address, delivered to another address, and even a photo that wasn't an air conditioner) and said they had trouble getting refunds.

  • people who are sensitive to mold/indoor air quality issues because commenters reported mold inside the vents after a couple of months and also noted that these window inverter units can collect mold that takes time/skill to clean every season.

  • buyers who want strong warranty recourse because one commenter warned that Chinese-brand window ACs have a bad build-quality reputation and "little recourse for warranty claims," recommending GE Profile inverter units instead.

  • buyers who are relying on AliExpress returns if something goes wrong because multiple commenters warned that if it doesn't say "Shipped from USA," returns can be effectively non-returnable due to shipping costs and seller-focused customer service.

  • people who plan to modify the unit to address drainage because one commenter said drilling a drainage hole would void the warranty since the unit uses collected water for compressor heat dissipation.

It's not loud. I think it's quieter than Midea one. A lot easier to install than Midea one, too.

I also bought the HiSense from Costco last year. I liked it so much, I got a second one. Noise is fine since most of noise is sitting outside. I used the app to turn on the AC remotely before I returned home in the summer. However, you may need to figure out how to mount it. I have 5" siding so the exterior wall was not flat for the feet for the bracket.

Ok I want to buy but I have never bought anything this expensive on AliExpress. What's the deal, are these units legit, what if there are issues?
If it's shipped from the U.S. (which this is), in my experience it's the same sellers that offer the same products on Amazon, only cheaper on Ali Express. I'm guessing because of less fees. Only difference I can see is that returns may not be as easy if needed.

Midea recalled about 1.7 million U and U+ series window air conditioners in June 2025 due to a drainage problem that causes water to pool inside, leading to mold growth and potential health risks like respiratory issues, coughing, sneezing, and allergic reactions.
Yeah was gonna say the same thing. They offered to either A) send the part needed to modify the unit, B) send a photo of the cord cut and dispose of it and they'll send you a check or C) return it back to Costco

These types of AC units are great, but collect mold that takes a good amount of time effort and skill to clean... Every season. This applies to midea and Hisense units. Hopefully future iterations will be easier to clean

I heard recently about cash advance charges on credit cards through PayPal on AliExpress and then they will not resolve them that's what I'd be worried about mostly on top of not getting the product

ive dealt with aliexpress DOA issues before and theyre always handled quickly, but those purchases were in the $20-30 range. Cant say ive ever had things break down the road past the guarantee

In for one since the $20 coupon worked and delivery alone probably costs them $50 for this thing.

Protip: A certain cashback site is offering 15% on aliexpress - won't say the one since the slickdeals mods love to give warnings so google it. IF this works this should cost me $130.9 + sales tax.

I have the midea U and got this hisense from Costco last year. Ended up returning it because the remote is horrible, the app isn't that great, and ended up seeing mold inside the vents after a couple of months. The midea U is so much better almost in every aspect.
Do you live in a humid area? I live in a dry climate I'm not sure this would be an issue for me

700w? Don't most window units use double that amount of wattage?

There is a pretty easy fix for it. You just need to drill a drainage hole in the bottom of the unit on the outside part. You can look online where exactly it has to be. I had two mideas that did have mold. I washed them out with a vinegar solution and a garden hose. Got them completely cleaned up. They worked perfectly last summer.
