For anyone on the fence: We've been using these Metabo staplers at my job for over a decade. They often get dropped, abused, and generally put through hell... but they still work like a charm. If you oil it occasionally and do basic maintenance once in a blue moon, it will probably outlast you.

Google says 18ga 1/4" 1.5" - 2" staples for installed tongue and groove ceiling...does SD agree and then this would be the tool to get.

Looking to finish a project in the spring.

Edit: but seeing HF has one on sale for $25...for one time project, will I really benefit much more from the metabo?

Tell me you've never done any finish carpentry without telling me...

Wen is crap, this is a tried and tested design that has stood the test of time, from before Hitachi became Metabo. I have units nearly 20 years old that need nothing more than a drop of oil when putting them to work, and they continue to work flawlessly.

Good tools are usually worth it, even if you think you'll only ever use them for one job. This isn't a question between buying a Festool or a Dewalt for everyday enterprise work, which would be a difference of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars. This is 20 bucks more than a HF throwaway for a legit tool that will still do its job even if you leave it in the case for a decade without touching it.

To actually answer your question (sorry), then yes, this would be the tool to get, though you'll also need a modestly-sized air compressor if you don't already have one. 1/4" width staples are super standard for lots of interior finishes, whether flooring, wallcovering, or ceiling materials. Length of staple depends on thickness of material and type of substrate to which that material is being fastened. Building codes can teach you minutia if you want (and you should want), but common sense takes you 95% of the way there in most circumstances, ymmv

Thanks for the listing. Just ordered one to add to my tool collection as these are perfect for certain applications. Metabo makes great tools and I expect this stapler to outlast me (I'm old).

Ive got a Hitachi pneumatic framing nail gun that's been a workhorse for years now, IIRC Metabo is the new name, If so, how does the brand/quality hold up after the name switch?

I have this gun and it's very effective with only a 3 gallon pancake compressor.
