I've killed two of these. The gear that drives the oiler is a small plastic disc with a plastic pin the size of a needle, the pin is connected to a small piston for the oil and snaps off after not much use. Then you get no oil and start tearing through chains and batteries. Getting to the part to fix it is like major surgery, like 20+ screws and removing spring loaded mechanisms and all order of annoyance. It's a serious design flaw.

After the second one went I fixed it and sold it, not worth my time.

The oiler in mine still works but it leaks out no matter what position I store the saw in. I try to estimate how much oil I'll need for the session each time. Also, the auto torquing bar nut loosens while cutting, so every 10 seconds of cutting or so I have to tighten it back up or the bar falls off. It loosens much faster if it's not a smooth cut. That being said, the saw is excellent other than those flaws, surprisingly powerful (about equal or better than a similarly sized gas model) the battery life is crap, I use dewalts fastest charger and I have way too many flexvolt batteries so I can use it all day without stopping, but if you only have a battery or two with a standard charger you're going to have a lot of down time.

I purchased one of the first models of this saw and didn't get the first tree cut down before it stopped oiling. I never took the time to perform saw surgery and it remains an unfinished project years later. The saw had impressive power. I'm surprised they haven't fixed it by now, it seemed to be a common enough issue on the very first model.

3AH battery will last 5 minutes.
I have one of these and take two 9AH batteries, and they last 30 minutes of use, esp this past week when it's about 5 degrees F outside.

The amp hour rating varies with voltage, so these are actually 9ah at 20v and 3ah at 60. I don't think a 9ah 60v battery even exists. It would be huge.

thanks. i don't like the tool free design of these electric saws; i have a makita and same problem. they never seem to work to good. mine jambs up with saw dust and oil. very painful to use.
do they test these things before selling? or even try? even the cheapest gas saws work better than most of these tool free things. groan.
