Might be a deal, but it's not a great value.

Personally, this is my favorite DeWalt battery and also the most unique. It's probably one of the biggest reasons I haven't moved 100% to Milwaukee. High output, light and compact is the winner for most smaller tools (drills, drivers, wrenches, compact router etc). A DCF860/870 impact driver with this battery is pretty light and maneuverable. Compare that to a 2953-20 (M18 Gen4) with a 3Ah high output battery and that is relatively unwieldy. Of course you could put a 2Ah on the M18 but it limits the tool's capabilities (unlike the POWERSTACK) and it's still bigger than the POWERSTACK. While my first choice is still my M12 hydraulic, when I need more power, DeWalt is a no-brainer, primarily because of this battery.

I'm not sure if image does the size difference justice, but it shows, my DCF860 and DCF870 with the POWERSTACK compared to the M18 Gen4 with a 3Ah HO. The tools themselves are pretty comparable in size, it's the battery that kills the M18.

Price gone. Note: These are only 1.7 Ah which they run out pretty quickly under load. I have a couple and only use them for drilling a couple holes.

You wouldnt want to rebuild a dewalt. Dewalt does not have a BMS capable of capacity management or balancing. They are made to last their lifespan without it due to the high quality li-ion packs they get from the manufacturer. Putting in subpar batteries (the batteries outside of the 3 main manufacturers are subpar; panasonic, samsung, murata) is going to be a giant risk, engineers made them that way to prevent people from rebuilding or reusing or refurbish and resell them.

I am saying that dewalt engineers have build their batteries and BMS so that people do not rebuild them in any meaningful way.
Doesn't mean people dont rebuild them. It just means that their BMS is not capable of refurbishing their battery packs in any meaningful way where they last a long time. The dewalt ecosystem and BMS was created in a manner where there would be no useful long term benefit to rebuild them beyond a couple months after their intended warranty date? But people still rebuild them.

You empathized that you were dissatisfied with the battery packs because you wouldnt be able to refurbish or rebuild them. But the entire design of their battery packs were made so you couldn't, its pretty obvious when you dissect the BMS, especially when you compare them to other manufacturers. As dewalt has stated many times, when the purported lifespan of the battery pack is up, thats exactly what they intended. Hence why there is no battery management system where they balance the batteries.

Ok
I was talking about the traditional dewalt batteries with 18650 in them to fix and rebuilt....
