what's so good about bottom freezer type vs the old top freezer fridge? You get less storage for the freezer since the drawer itself takes up some space, and you will need a fan to push up the cold air while the top freezer type don't really need one since cold air naturally flow downwards? I recently had to replace the fan inside my GE French door fridge and much appreciated the simpler design.

Yeah I need to do this same repair. Lubed the fan and then it nicked me and I ordered but haven't installed the replacement

Bottom freezer placement prioritize fresh food accessibility in the fridge section, keeping your most-used items at eye level so you don't have to bend down.
You're right on the money that bottom freezer models aren't as energy efficient compared to an equivalent top freezer model.

honestly great fridge. had it since black friday. had 1 issue which was the tray was cracked, but warranty team shipped the part out within the next day.

the freezer is smooth to roll in and out. and honestly the space inside is very spacious. for 18cubic foot fridge for 600 bucks you honestly cant beat it. especially if you have size restriction.

before i had a top freezer model and man its such a pain to always crouch down to get into the fridge before. this model instantly pleased my mother and it just looks really nice and clean in the kitchen. in older home we had the french door model and they really took up and and reduced spacing atleast the trays which hold to the door. so this model i feel like looks like it has lots of space and also i can just pack alot more stuff.
it looks so much better then what i had previously

one pro for this model is that it doesnt come with and ice maker. with how horrible the issues with lg/samsung fridge have been with ice makers, at this point i would rather just stick with ice cube trays lol. but you can buy a seprate kit to add it in, it does come with a water pipe you could , i think it cost 100 bucks. honstly not worth. rather stick with my ice cubes.
