I was so happy when I threw my Dyson away. I recently bought a Kenmore Elite bagged vacuum. It picks up WAY more dirt than either of my previous dysons did, and the Dysons were "the strongest" of their models. Get over the thought of using vacuum bags and you will literally have a cleaner house.
The Dyson Ball Animal Origin is framed as a strong upright for carpet and pet hair, with the self adjusting cleaner head and ball steering making it easier to push and maneuver than older Dyson models. It is described as handling dogs, cats, and heavy shedding well, and still pulling up dirt and dust even after regular vacuuming. The main cautions are durability and maintenance, since the cleaner head can clog with hair, wear out bearings, and eventually need replacement. It comes across as a capable pet vacuum with some long term upkeep.
Households with shedding dogs and cats need strong hair pickup, because it handles long hair without getting overwhelmed and keeps pulling up dirt after regular cleaning.
People who want a lightweight, no-fuss machine for frequent whole-house cleaning, because the ball design still leaves most cleaning as up-and-down work and can be hard to justify.
Yes. It is reported to handle multiple pets, including long-hair dogs and cats, without missing a beat, and it keeps pulling up dirt and dust even with regular vacuuming. The self-adjusting cleaner head is a key reason it is considered worthwhile for carpet and pet hair.
It is described as cheaper than many premium options while offering more power and dust-canister capacity than stick vacuums. At the same time, some shoppers say $100 Kenmore or Bissell uprights can pick up more dirt, so the main advantage here is Dyson-style suction and pet-hair handling rather than best-in-class value.
The ball design makes it easier to steer than many uprights, and a clog can be cleared quickly with one clip and a trap door. The cleaner head may need frequent maintenance because pet hair can get into the bearings and damage the brush, which can make the head unusable over time.

THIS is the one to get. We had one but aftrr years of cleaning and filters, it just had too much dog odor. So we bought the Animal 3 ... found out too late it does not have self adjusting and even on manual is a turd to push.
THIS item does have the self adjusting which makes it worthwhile

We have both the lightweight handheld Dysons and then the Animal and omg the Animal is necessary for people with carpet. We vacuum relatively regularly and still pick up so much dirt/dust when we go through with this thing.

I recently had to remove clog on mine and was surprised how easy it was. There is one clip to remove and one trap door to flip. That's all.
However I agreed with you that Dyson vacuum are overpriced gimmick. It is easier to maneuver with the ball but you will mostly go up and down anyway.
Any $100 Kenmore or Bissell is going to pick up a lot of dirt than this. I also never had to remove clog on them...

Something's not adding up. I'm thinking you had a clog in your hose in the Dyson. They're not very well built, but the DO have the best suction in the industry. Other manufacturers are copying their design for a reason.
