I have this saw and mostly use it for non-ferrous metals (aluminum, brass. Copper) - it's pretty great. Only thing that could be better is the clamping system for the blades. It says you can use pinned or unpinned blades but I have had some pretty major slippage with unpinned ones - pinned work great though.

A scroll saw allows for much cleaner and more precise cuts than a jigsaw can provide - typically used for very detailed woodworking. The blades are extremely small. The smallest blade with a scroll saw is in the realm of 0.022 inches (thick and wide) whereas a jigsaw blade is somewhat close in thickness, say the smallest around 0.04 inches but the width is much larger like 0.25 inches.

The saw blade is in tension, it's sort of the difference between a reciprocating saw and a bandsaw, but not entirely because a bandsaw goes one direction

I've had a WEN scroll saw (looks just like this, not sure if it's the exact model) since 2017. It's a champ.

Edit:
For anyone curious, I looked up my Kmart 😂 receipt, my "deal" in 2017 was $88.52 before tax. Model number 3920. This 2026 deal is for model number 3921. According to inflation calculator, $88.52 in 2017 is equal to $116.26 in 2025. So congratulations to anyone who has been holding off for last decade, you saved a further $27.74.

At Lowes, if you are eligible for the Military discount, and also pay with a gift card that you can usually get for a 10 % discount your cost comes down to $80 + tax
