Two most recent reviews say this won't even cut the shackle on a basic master lock. I wouldn't waste any money on it.

That's because it's an 8" bolt cutter. The specs even say max capacity is 5mm hard wire, which is more compliant than a shackle and narrower than a basic master lock. The equivalent Knipex, which I own, specifies max 3.0mm piano wire.
I'm not saying this is a great tool, but it's not the right tool for that scenario.

Yeah calling them bolt cutters was ambitious, these type are fine for cutting screws, hard wire, and whatnot.

These might be good for the next time that I have to cut chain link fencing or BRC. Using big bolt cutter or a grinder is a hassle sometimes.

I mean, to be fair, these mini bolt cutters aren't really meant for hardened lock shackles, but yeah.. these cheap ones are probably cheese-grade metal.


Knipex Cobolt is what these are a copy of, and are undoubtedly made of a much higher quality & suitable steel.
