This is Apple's "40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max', so OP should probably fix the title. It is a 60W capable charger but will slowly taper down to add low as 40W as it warms up. Third party testing shows that this takes about 18 minutes:

This looks like a good deal on a newer, highly compact charger from a highly reputable company.

Most USB-C chargers have multiple voltage modes, but this one renegotiates lower output power as the surface temperature gets above some limit.

Temperature of the charger? Seems like an odd design. I guess they are going for maximum compactness.

It's a shame that I don't feel secure in not getting a fake when ordering Apple accessories from Amazon. Has anyone had any issues with Amazon and fake apple products?

I bought one of these open box off of Amazon. Looks new to me. I am very impressed by the charger. Iphone 17 pro charges fast and does not heat up. It also works well on a Pixel 10 for a relatively fast charge and the phone seems to be cooler than a normal fast charge. I have no temp measurements so this is all anecdotal.
