The afternoons got pretty hot, but they have an indoor golf simulator along with a game area and karaoke rooms that you can go into and cool off. They also have bike rentals which I'd highly recommend to get around (especially if you're in a water villa). We never used a courtesy shuttle after that and enjoyed our little rides around the island.
Would highly recommend this place to anyone on the fence. It was easily the best vacation I've ever taken.
Community Reviews
Pullman Maldives Maamutta comes across as a remote all inclusive best for serious snorkeling and diving, with strong food, attentive staff, and plenty to do on site. The house reef can be excellent, with reef sharks, turtles, rays, and dense fish life, and the resort also has bike rentals, karaoke rooms, an indoor golf simulator, and good restaurant variety including Indian and vegetarian options. The main catches are the long journey via Malé, extra transfer costs, and the fact that off villa snorkeling and some villa sides are less ideal. Reservations are needed for some restaurants, and the deal math is less dramatic once fees and taxes are added.

38 hours back again.
That's not a vacation and so we are going to motel 6 in Pigeon Forge and going to the aquarium to see fish. (Biscuits and red eye gravy are up there with bimibap and yakisoba)
We loved it - the only thing that didn't go well was the Whale Shark tour - 8 hrs on a boat, never saw a whale shark. in the Phillipines they feed the sharks so they're easy to find, but in the Maldives they don't do that so you can get unlucky.
They comp'd us a family diving tour in response so it was not too bad.
Their house reef was world class.
The boat ride to the resort also was long - like an hour or more, I forget. my kid was not feeling good but the staff taught him to deal with the seasickness. Awesome staff.
The problem with the Maldives is that they are far from other places people want to visit. Hard to even make them a part of a multi-leg trip. They are 15+ hours from Sydney.
Also only go to Maldives if you're like us, and will be snorkeling or diving the whole time. Otherwise it's just a nice beach with nice food. If you're into snorkeling or diving, it's world class. We snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, Indonesia (Komodo Island area) and Maldives.
I'd put it 1st, just slightly over Indonesia since we saw more big stuff (sharks etc) and there's some trash in Indonesia depending on the season.
Caribbean is not on the same level - the biodiversity of Indonesia is like 300x that of the Caribbean.

If you want to snorkel, take any trip to Maui, rent a condo, rent a car, and just pull over and jump in about anywhere. Obviously there are some spots better than others but y'all are smart, you can figure it out.
Despite its ultra-liberalism, Hawaii, to us, is the best value, over the Caribbean or Mexico or other more distant destinations.
