Sony has consistently had the best picture processing out there
And they won the Value Electronics shootout yet again this year...The LG G5 came in 4th place

It is top 5. This is almost identical to the Bravia 8 but with a couple of missing features. The newer Bravia 8 ii and older A95L are both better OLED models than this one, but much more expensive. There is also the Bravia 9 which is Sony's flagship model, but it is Mini LED and also much more expensive.
This model is roughly comparable to the LG C4, but with Sony's superior image processing.

From my experience, one of the best thing about Sony TVs is their out of the box picture settings are really good. I hardly had to tweak my OLED from three years ago. Still works great.

They have a lot of competition now. They really only have reliability to attract customers over LG and I'm not sure that's real or perceived.

I wonder if this is a early indicator of their move to have TCL handle all manufacturing and logistics for TVs and entertainment.

Or is may be a pricing error on their listing as they have the exact same TV listed priced for US $1,249.00.

65" sony a75L OLED with a full featured XR chip was $900 from bestbuy last month.

This 8b model lacks XR contrast booster and triluminous pro. Maybe it is TCL's first try at OLED? lol

Beware, my Bravia 8 (nearly identical) seems to have some flaws, despite the absolutely beautiful picture and great integration with my Sony soundbar. Maybe the XR8B has key updates from the Bravia 8, but from what I've seen they're basically the same.

The Fan Duel Sports app (I use it for Cavs games) starts out okay but before long the frame rate drops and video is very choppy. And I use a Tablo, since these TVs don't allow you to pause live antenna TV, even though practically every cheap Roku-based TV has done that well for like 10 years. The Tablo app sucks on my Bravia 8, and flakes out when pausing 1080i broadcasts - the one feature I wanted. I wanted to blame these apps initially but both work 100% fine on my cheap old Onn android box. So the OLED panel is amazing, in my opinion (same one in Bravia 8 and XR8B), but you may experience some annoyances. Looks good out of the box but can still use some tweaking. Just my two cents.

I'm unfamiliar with the Sony line up. Is this one of their better models?

Might not be a bad thing for Sony. They make more money selling their camera sensors to big companies like Apple for their smart phones than they ever made with their own smart phones.
