It's a head or neck cradle. Basically to better position and support your head/neck while relieving pressure on the spine.

I bought a similar pillow recently. It did remove the neck pain I was waking up with however, after two weeks, I started getting neck pain with this pillow. Now I wake up with neck pain on any pillow I lay on. Just a heads up.
