I bought this one when I started redoing my bathroom. I love the three speeds and power. I even sanded the varnish off a really old door. Having it hooked up to a vacuum really keeps the dust down too.

Is it worth the price if you already own an older version?

100%
I let the smoke out of the standard Ryobi 18v sander just working on some hickory desk tops. The Brushless RO has a lower center of gravity, WAY less vibration, and can be a lot more aggressive when you crank up the speed. But you can also dial down the speed for more delicate things. It's night and day vs the RO Ryobi sander. My oonly complaint is that the catch on the dust bag isn't strong enough and it's blown off the bag on more than one occasion.
