great watch, but for anyone confused by the Epix line: there are 2 main versions that you can buy:

- gen 2
- gen 2 pro

gen 2 pro has the elevate 5 sensor with ECG, and a FLASHLIGHT if you care about that.

I have vivoactive 4 and use it for distance to the green and it decent on giving you distance for each hit but that's whats mine is limited to. Other watches have more features, if you have 18 birdies then Garmin doesn't work with it, Wear OS watches and Apple do

I have a non-saphire version of this for 2 years now. Love almost everything about them. They survived salt water without problems, GPS is pretty accurate distance-wise but has some issues with the altitude: i live and 'exercise' in Florida, where terrain is super flat, but after some walks or rides these can report 100-200 feet of elevation gained, which is impossible where I live. Internet says that you may deal with that by doing calibration before the exercise, but I never bothered.
And recently I've noticed some weird data on HR: readings of 130-150 during basic walking. I've freaked out at first but then realized that I would definitely notice 150 HR (I top 160 playing hockey, 150 is very high for me). I've noticed it twice during past 2 weeks, if it will happen more often, I'll probably need to look for a replacement, either for a watch or for my heart.

I didn't think the flashlight was going to be that big of a deal. It is now my favorite feature on my watch. Don't sleep on the flashlight feature, it's amazing

This. Plus that gen5 sensor is the latest one they have, which makes the pro version the one to get. I picked up mine in black dlc over last Thanksgiving/cyber Monday from the same seller and it's a massive upgrade over my old venu 3. Wait for the pro version, or get the venu 5 on sale... pretty similar when it comes to sensors and capabilities
