Can't speak for this one but alot of Verizon Prepaid device requires carrier activation, can't even bypass that to use the device as Wifi.

Only good for WiFi, however the 2025 was available for $25 at Walmart on Dec, so this one being 2024 doesn't seem like the best deal out there.

VZ prepaid used to have the best unlock policy. Now they're the worst among the prepaid brands of the big 3. Cricket is 6 month and Metro is 1 month + 1 year wait. VZ brands are now 1 year paid service. Even if you intend to use VZ service, you're locked in for at least a year. Why put yourself in carrier jail when you don't need to?

Its only 24 bucks. I have the 8GB RAM version. Great as wifi device while my main phone charges.
2024 has a faster processor vs 2025 version

I've seen Total wireless do that before even then you don't have to pay for one month of service though and it would be The Wi-Fi only device forever. But honestly at this point with Verizon being so terrible about the unlocking Metro T-Mobile at least unlocks automatically after 6 months and it doesn't have to be paid concurrent typically. So like you can get the Moto G stylus from them for 35 bucks right now pay for one month and then 6 months later it'll be unlocked. Sad that that terrible unlocking policy is now best in class

Metro changed to 1 year for unlocking as of early last year The rest is still correct.

Shame you can't make wifi phone calls unless activation via Verizon. This is actually unprecedented. Other cell company like tmobile does not require activation for wifi call.

I got a couple of Tracfone versions of this on closeout last year for wifi use, Verizon owns Tracfone, so this should be usable on wifi too without a plan.

Suprise--Stereo speakers make this a fun Youtube/Gaming device.
