Any reason to get this instead of another SOLIX C1000 for about the same price?
You don't have to swap and it can run longer with 2 batteries connected. A big con is you have to plug 2 pieces in to charge. The expansion does not have the charging the port.

Could also just get a 12v 100ah LifePO4 battery for about $99 (+$40 for a charger), and run it through the C1000 XT60 port. This also works for the Gen2. The Ecoflow 12v 280ah for $235 posted on Slickdeals would provide nearly triple the run time.

Not a real great recommendation. The reason to get this vs a 12v is you want portability and ease of use.
If im getting 12vs i might as well get a bigger battery.
Keep in mind this only works if you have the Gen 1 C1000, gen 2 can't use expansion battery. I already have the gen 1 and an expansion battery. If this were cheaper I'd buy another one just to have, but for the price I'd opt for stand alone unit.

Not familiar with this system but would the Anker charge a regular LifePO4 battery that is connected to it or would you need a separate battery charger for the added battery? I see people recommended to just bring your own battery to these power packs all the time but most of them wont charge a randomly added battery so you would need a charger then at that point may as well buy your own inverter and do away with the power station all together for a custom power wall IMO.
Your doing it wrong, just buy it now then find a use for it later
The Power stations are good for ( short term) power outages , , good for camping, bringing power out to some remote location to use power tools. Like I took one to the docks to do some work on my boat. If your building a shed or kids club house in the backyard and don't want to run extension cords that for ( or can't). Good for tailgating, camping, taking to the beach to power music or projectors or anything! not sure of this brand but these often can be used as an UPS for 3D printers, CNC machines , PC's anything that you may want to protect from a power failure!

I like that the recommended bundle on amazon is the Gen 2 C1000 that this Specifically states is not compatible with.
I have been wanting one of these for a while but every time I would think about checking the price it was = or more than the C1000 base unit. Just did a CCC check and it looks like the price has been settling downward since the start of the year. As the expansion batteries are only good for the old style c1000 I think they may be clearing inventory.
