I would take a chance if this were indeed half off. Price history shows that this was $40, dropped to $20. The only mini heat guns that are $40 are specialty: cordless, or selectable temperature. $20 is comparable to other mini heat guns with hundreds of 5-star ratings and similar features. I would go with one of those just to be safe.

I keep it plugged and ready to go on my workbench. Removing stubborn stickers, heat shrink, separating small parts, permanently bending arms on cheap sunglasses to fit my big head, even soldering because of how hot it gets(PS4 HDMI). I wouldn't use it as a full rework station but it 100% worked.
I've used it for many more occasions big and small and so much without any issues that if it does go bad I would rebuy without hesitation.
