Guys, DisplayPort is better than HDMI. It's everything HDMI has and more. You can do more with DP, including higher refresh rates and daisy-chaining. To downgrade a DP signal to HDMI, all you need is a passive $3 dongle. You upgrade an HDMI to DP, you need an active converter… and even then you lose the ability to daisychain.
You WANT DisplayPorts whenever possible. Having DisplayPorts instead of HDMI is a good thing.

I'd buy if it had HDMI. That said, the next version of this moved the host port to the front, which was a grave mistake.

Check eBay for Dell thunderbolt docks. They are way cheaper and probably better than this.

I have this and it's the only dock that consistently worked with my laptop and a dual monitor set up. I tried a few of the Anker ones and one random odd name one. Would eventually run into only 1 monitor displaying.

This one always worked. Laptop screen was always closed if that matters.

can I attach USB-C monitors to this? And have two different "videos" on MacOSX, instead of being forced to mirroring?

Does anyone know if you hook up this up to an ipad air (2020 A chip) if it will act a dock for keyboard/mouse/monitor?

That's neat, but I really shouldn't need to buy a special cable. Corsair should have just included an HDMI port. One HDMI and one DisplayPort is a pretty normal setup for PC users with integrated graphics.

Those can be finicky with waking up from two monitors. Sometimes it won't wake the monitor and you have keep unplugging and replugging to refresh it.

This is correct.. Most applications of DP can spit a native HDMI signal when needed, hence passive gets it done. Vice versa and it won't work, need active

Problem is most Laptops/Macs do not have DP, so you're gonna need an hdmi to dp adapter which, although minimal, might affect the display.

Edit: my bad..lol.. i wasn't thinking
