At this price, this is pretty dumb. You can grab water zigbee leak sensors on AliExpress for about $8 each, a zigbee valve for $35, and a zigbee hub or zigbee USB (for using with a raspberry pi or other PC) for around $35. So for $228, you could get 20 leak sensors and a robust zigbee ecosystem going, plus the ability to be notified on your phone if something does go awry. This is the setup I made with a water leak sensor under every sink, near the washing machine, and then 5 in the crawlspace, and will automatically shut off the water if any one of the sensors detects a problem. Plus, if you need to do any plumbing work, or are leaving for vacation or extended period, you can just shut off the main supply from your phone.

Build your own, much better overall and cheaper if you only use a few sensors.

However, regardless of which way you go, make sure to actuate/test these once every 3-6 months, to prevent them from sticking/scaling so they're ready if the need ever arises.

I have this. It has a wifi hub but also works direct sensor to valve at the same time and it has a battery backup. So even if your power and wifi go out the water sensors will close the valve. The hub allows you to control and get notifications on your phone. It also works with Alexa to send alerts etc.. I have no complaints. It took 30mins to install.

All of my plumbing has a downward grade to it so it can be drained by hand when I leave. I'm just curious will this unit installed at the outlet from the well shutdown and also drain the system if it senses a leak at any of my sensors? I just hate the thought of having the unit cut off the water when it has a leak anywhere in the system but for it to leave residual water in the lines to continue to freeze is my question. (If that residual water is inside the house it could theoretically continue to leak out into the house until 5 or 10 gallons of residual water drains out) I love the idea of the unit but would love it more if it evacuated the lines at the house. I wouldn't want one at every outlet in the house just at the main outlet from the well to house. Tech support couldn't understand what I was trying to ask.
Maybe you can. Thanks for your help. And yes we sometimes are in the 0 to 32 degree range in winter.
