The Makita XPH14Z has more than twice the amount of torque and sells for a similar price occasionally on Amazon. Right now it's at about $125. I burned through a couple of these lower power ones before switching to the XPH14Z, then I burned a XPH14Z too using a 6" hole saw for too long. Anyway, don't expect any of them to perform miracles.

The chuck is the only negative I have, otherwise this is my ride or die.

Had this for years. Rock solid tool with no complaints other than every time I use it I want to buy more Makita but have no justification for owning more tools.

do you know the difference between this and XPH16Z ? is handle required ? or one is for tigher spaces?

The 16 is slightly smaller and lighter and slightly less torque. I frequently drill without the handle, but it can be dangerous, you have to hang on with 2 hands with bigger holes, and generally only do that at higher speed because it has less torque.
