This rechargeable gravity salt and pepper grinder set stands out for hands free seasoning and a clean, adjustable grind. The slow setting is favored for better pepper flavor, and the ceramic burrs, gravity sensing, and uniform grind consistency are called out as strong points. The large container and quiet motor add convenience, especially when cooking with one clean hand or for easier use by older adults. The main caveat is durability, since long term life is uncertain, and the checkout discount does not always appear for everyone.

Common Questions (5)

  • It has adjustable grind size and 2-speed grinding modes: a slow setting for sea salt and a faster setting for pepper and other spices. That is fewer speed options than some other gravity grinders, which may offer more settings.

  • It can grind uniformly and has a large hopper, but durability is reported as mixed. One report says it is not very durable compared with another brand that lasted over 2 years, while another says it works very well after delivery.

  • Yes. The price drops from $19.99 to about $9.99 automatically during checkout, rather than requiring a traditional coupon checkbox. Free shipping applies with Prime or on $35+ orders.

  • Yes. The gravity sensor starts grinding with a simple tilt, so it can be handy when you only have one clean hand available. It also includes rechargeable USB charging and indicator lights for charge status.

  • The slow setting is better for premium peppercorns because it reduces heat and helps preserve aroma. The set uses ceramic burrs and a geared motor, which can produce a cracked texture instead of a powdery grind.

If you are using good peppercorns you probably want to grind them on the slow setting. When you use premium peppercorns—like Tellicherry or Kampot—you are paying for a high concentration of volatile oils (specifically piperine and various terpenes) that provide the complex aroma and "bite." High-speed grinding generates friction at the burr surface. Heat is the enemy of flavor; it causes the delicate aromatic compounds to dissipate before they even hit your food. A slower RPM keeps the peppercorns cool, ensuring the flavor profile remains intact. The Frolim utilizes ceramic burrs rather than stainless steel blades. Ceramic is a poor conductor of heat, which naturally aids in the goal of keeping the peppercorns cool during the process. Most Frolim models are engineered for high torque rather than high RPM. This is crucial for "good" peppercorns, which are often denser and more resinous than the hollow, mass-market variety. The motor is geared to maintain a consistent, slower rotation even when encountering resistance from a tough Tellicherry peppercorn, preventing the "stalling" that cheaper high-speed motors suffer from. Because it allows for precise adjustment of the gap between the burrs, the Frolim excels at the "slow" philosophy by allowing the peppercorn to be crushed at its natural cleavage points. On a slow setting, the Frolim produces a distinct "cracked" texture rather than a pulverized powder, which is essential for preserving the "pop" of flavor in gourmet cooking.
So you agree 2-speed or more setting is better?

What I am saying is that you don't need more speeds because you want the slow speed anyway. I would prefer two well-timed slow speeds rather than six useless speeds that give you a false sense of control.

Never thought about this for electric grinders, how do non-gravity grinders work?
I would think those are button activated

YMMV as these are not very durable as i had a different brand and got 2+ years out of them. $10...its a buy. For bigger grinds for BBQ, I use my coffee grinder. good for the elderly.
