kind of useless if you have to charge it on a pad. There are $10 rechargeable veritcal mouse for $10 instead.

I'm confused what you mean here? Will it not charge from the usb-c port on the front as well as the wireless charging?

How so? Do you work 24/7? I work all day, then set my mouse on the charger when I'm done. It's topped off and ready the next day. I do the same with my gaming controllers. They set on a charging dock when not in use, and they're ready to go whenever I am. I never run out of battery life mid gaming session, or mid workday.
I suppose, always keeping the battery topped off isn't the best thing for longevity, but it's going to be years before that becomes an issue.

I just got magnetic USB cables and periodically move the cable between the keyboard and mouse to keep them charged. Easy, and I can use the mouse and keyboard I want

Terrible design. Just make it standard batteries and a more efficient circuit which uses power efficiently so that it lasts a while like Logitech stuff
