Thanks OP. Love my IG651 and was looking to pick up a new one cause honestly, I'm tired of cleaning mine 😂
For the last 2 months it's been over $500 on Amazon and the full item was not even available directly from Ninja (you could only buy the base for $272), so I was worried it might be discontinued. Saw your post and ordered two this morning, just in case.

So I read side by side comparison reviews. Most said this was better because: IG651 allows for open or closed hood cooking - DG551 only closed hood -> +1 for IG. The IG also sears better - allows for griddle cooking - DG551 = no. Actually I think the DG551 looks way cooler. I just think the IG651 edges out the DG551 = and the fact it costs less than DG551 ATM - I was sold.
I have this model it is a pain to clean. Contrary to what the manual says, the bottom grill plate is not dishwasher safe as the aluminum will continuously rub off and degrade. While it does cook a lot better than the non grill grate version, I'm not sure if the extra maintenance was worth it. Also, the grill grate is extremely big and heavy. The photos make it look like the whole grill grate, but the bottom of mine has the aluminum exposed.

I just leave mine in griddle mode 99% of the time and only bother cleaning the bottom plate underneath every once in a while since it's not a cooking surface.
For me at least it's extremely low maintenance.
