Aren't these specs too much of an overkill for an ipad, M5? Do people do video editing or gaming on these? Just curious not trying to mock or anything, i know it's good to have an overhead and be futureproof, but my ipad pro from 5 years ago is still quite snappy. Also have an ipad air 2 that's very dated but runs netflix, youtube, monitoring house cams etc. all really well too. I dont know maybe it won't in a few more years, still i think an M5 chip for an ipad....i know they've been doing it at leastsince the M1, maybe they just sell more when people see these macbook chips on ipads. One could possibly argue same for phones in general too...diminishing returns

I would rather see some really creative changes... an ipad with a small detachable e-ink screen in the back for reading books, especially outdoor.

You can do video editing...Final Cut, Resolve, Lumafusion and others. Logic Pro is quite the powerful audio suite. There are also AAA games like Resident Evil.

How many tablets/laptops can you point out with this level of speed, size and battery?

For me, it's a little bit of everything. I don't upgrade my iPad that often, currently at 9 years since the last upgrade, but when I do, I want the most capable. I also refuse to pay the price that Apple wants, so am always watching for a deal. For my use, the Air M3 would be more than enough, but the reason I'm not buying that one is the lack of an OLED screen.
