Haven't seen this price since July of 2025. For some reason, I decided to check today and it was on sale again. Have been eyeing this lens since Nov. 2025. It is an older design from 2019. Some people like it and some will invest in something else. Please do your own research to see if it right for you. Before the sale, it was around $599. Thank you.

This is the old scrappy seconds adapted DSLR lens - Sigma just baked in a flange distance adapter to their Canon/Nikon legacy DSLR lens model, and then finally a few years ago, actually got it right and purpose-built a proper lenses at other focal lengths: much smaller, better performing, etc. This is a dumb purchase, before they get around to 28mm.

You could very well be correct, as it could be that Sigma is working to clear out inventory of this lens prior to releasing a smaller and better replacement fully designed for mirrorless cameras. However, 28mm primes are not all that popular, so Sigma may not be in a rush to release it. Who knows?
I decided to pull the trigger on this, knowing that it is a heavy and relatively old. The 28mm focal length will only be of occasional use to me, but I appreciate the wide maximum aperture of f/1.4. At $459, I figured it was worth a try. The reviews I've seen regarding the image quality seem quite favorable.
The deal is now dead, by the way, and the price is back up to $879.
