Not a bad deal for a 4090 in the large 18 inch size. Still capable of playing every game on the market at high settings and looking great. I don't like the fact that it gets hotter than most of the other 18 inch laptops, but it doesn't throttle, so I'd expect 2-3 good years out of it. If you use a decent cooling pad, I think it would extend the life by another year or 2. However I feel 5 years is a out the max if you want to stay on top of the latest games.

2-3yrs? Sounds like a very bad investment if you literally feel that way. I don't see a reason to always play the latest and greatest but who am I to tell. Not a hardcore gamer so I'm always playing 'older' games where they're heavily discounted along with not needing to worry constantly updating your pc. The PC industry is just milking you, man. I bet they have it strategized out so new games require modern pc's else they'll go out of business. Damn expensive if you want to be up to date.

RTX 4090 laptops in 2026 are a Terrible deal at ~$2,000.

Same 16 GB as a 5080, but on slower GDDR6, pulls more watts, and still loses or barely ties in FPS.

And that's before you factor in the power‑hungry, thermal‑throttling i9‑14900HX versus the much cooler, faster Ultra 9 275HX.
